Hi VO community! I used to live in Chicago, and I founded and organized ChiVO (Chicago Voice-over) a meet-up for VO folks, since nothing like that existed at the time (maybe even still). I don't live there anymore, but I love Chicago. I haven't moderated or maintained the [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/groups…

I am considering getting into voice acting. I am at a junction in my life, since health problems mean both that I can't return to my previous (outdoor, physical) career, and that I need to move to a place with a different climate. Since I have had a passion for acting since I was a child, and as an adult I have develop…

I was hoping maybe some actors could weigh in on this. It seems that when I watch a film or television show, an actor who is about to be interrupted seems to speak in a run-on sort of way which is always a tell that they're about to be interrupted by another actor. What is it that causes this, from an actor's perspecti…

Okay, the title is a bit of a joke, but here's the question, specifically for you VO actors who have been auditioning for many years. I don't actually mean the VO jobs you actually want, but those which you've auditioned for COUNTLESS times and you never get. For me, there's a really low-rent Video Game that always ask…

I’m a non-union actress and, after submitting and meeting with this Chicago agency, I received an offer for exclusive regional (Chicago/Tri-State Area) representation. The contract is a 3-year term with 15% commission for non-union on-camera work, and 10% for union work. It also states that “this contract is not cancel…

Hi guys, I’m pretty new here so wasn’t very active. Part of it because I have no experience in acting, literally nothing. So, I went to secondary school in my home country, which is in South East Asia, and we don’t have drama class or anything like that in high school, literally academic subjects. I didn’t know what to…

Hi so I'm not really a voice actor but I wanted to make a mod for a game with a voiced character and was wondering what the best setup for something like that is, my only mic I have is this gaming headset which I'm not sure how to best setup in audacity. Along with that I was wondering if there's any editing tricks to…

I thought this might be of interest here. Building on the face-api.js open source library and models, I'm playing with something that estimates age range (about a 9-year range), shows dominant colors, etc. for a headshot (or photo with faces). It's a work in progress. It's at [https://learnforeverlearn.com/headshotanal…

Hi - I had to move back in with my folks from NYC mostly for mental health reasons but they lined up nicely with covid. I’ve been in retail in the CA suburbs since March and have been calmly working and not spending much. I wanted to move to LA in Dec/Jan, but I got a request at my retail job to apply for a promotion.…

I would consider myself a decent actor, maybe even good sometimes. Either way I enjoy it a ton especially musical theater but I’d like to do some films later on. I had a thought about actually getting a role, I am missing a portion of my pointer finger, would this ever prevent me being selected for a role?

Hey everyone, I have recently been thinking quite a lot about cinematography in general. However, after some research, I never found a concrete answer on how some foreign actors manage to land a role in Hollywood movies. How would someone audition if they don´t live in the US? Would a local agent be able to find work o…

What are the chances of getting casted as a BG actor without any prior experience? I applied for BG role in my city (which doesn’t have many film productions) the day the casting went up but haven’t heard back.
